Troy's Teaching Style

"I teach a  yoga style I have developed as a culmination of the wide variety of training and teachers I have experienced over the years. My main priority is the safety of the student above all else.  Yoga is not meant to be competitive or unsafe.  One should move slowly in a pose and from one to the next.  There are many commonly taught sequences and postures that simply pose to much risk of injury and should not be practiced.  I begin class by encouraging students to move slow.  Slow in breathing technique, body movements and slowing the thinking.  Secondly I ask the student to discover their personal 'why.'  Why are they there in the class, what do they hope to gain and why are they doing yoga?  Until we know our why we are just mindlessly following along, or exercising." -Troy Cox
